In recent years, the dehumidifier market has been relatively popular on the internet. All major websites have advertisements for dehumidifiers, especially shopping websites dominated by Taobao, where the sales competition for dehumidifiers is very fierce. However, the sales of various physical commercial stores form a contrast. Due to the virtual nature of online sales, consumers cannot intuitively understand the functions and quality of products, and can only achieve marketing goals through the seller's self introduction. This characteristic also creates loopholes for illegal dealers, leading to a proliferation of counterfeiting and trafficking, especially among dozens of dehumidifier dealers on Taobao who engage in varying degrees of counterfeiting. What's more serious is that counterfeiting has reached its peak. The main manifestation is that the dehumidification capacity labeling of dehumidifiers is out of control, with most dehumidifiers having false labeling exceeding 100%. Among them, many dehumidifiers only have an actual dehumidification capacity of about 20% of the labeled dehumidification capacity. Most manufacturers do not have technical or design issues with this indicator, but deliberately use false labeling to compete in the market, which can suppress the market competitiveness of a group of honest dealers and improve their market share. Most of these manufacturers are companies or OEM distributors that have only emerged in the past one or two years. Due to a mixed bag of products and a vacuum in online supervision, consumer rights are difficult to protect.

From searching for "unqualified dehumidifiers" on Baidu, it can be found that there are not many quality inspections of dehumidifiers by the country or region. Although there were not many spot checks, the results were also disappointing. In 2007, the country conducted a random inspection of dehumidifiers, with a qualification rate of 85.5%. The unqualified spot checks at that time were mainly reflected in the electrical components. Through mandatory 3C certification, many manufacturers have now passed 3C certification, and the unqualified rate of original components has been significantly reduced. In early 2012, the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce conducted a special inspection on dehumidifiers, and found that 6 out of 10 dehumidifiers from 10 brands were found to be unqualified. Among them, the performance indicators of dehumidifiers, such as dehumidification capacity and unit input power dehumidification capacity, are very serious. This is a local monitoring, and the issues reflected have already revealed a situation of virtual dehumidification capacity beyond imagination. However, after two years, this problem became increasingly severe, spreading from the war in Guangdong to places such as Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Jiangsu. The reason behind this is that the dehumidifier market is narrow, with numerous small businesses and fierce competition. Many newly emerged enterprises are in a weak position in the market competition. In order to compete for this piece of cake, they must have the courage to openly falsify. On the other hand, the impact of local spot checks on the market is not significant, and the penalties are relatively lenient. From the perspective of some counterfeiters, they have not been harmed. On the other hand, some companies have obtained 3C certification, and the safety performance of their products has been recognized. As long as one product of the company obtains 3C certification, other products can pass the test. At the same time, there is no third-party supervision for online sales, especially on well-known websites such as Taobao, which do not have strict controls. There is no mandatory requirement for online distributors to provide 3C certification and product performance testing reports from provincial quality supervision departments for each style of product, allowing counterfeiters to make a big fuss and deceive online.

The national standard for dehumidifiers (GB/T19411-2003) issued by China on November 25, 2003, specifies the corresponding standard provisions for the assessment and testing of dehumidifiers. According to this standard unit of input power dehumidification capacity kg (h. kw) definition, a considerable number of dehumidifiers will be unqualified, not to mention brands with serious fraud. On March 21, 2014, the China Quality Certification Center issued the energy-saving certification rules for dehumidifiers (CQC31-439126-2014), which clearly defined the dehumidification capacity. That is, the measured dehumidification capacity under nominal operating conditions should not be less than 95% of the nominal dehumidification capacity, and the input power under nominal operating conditions should not be less than 110% of the nominal input power. It should be said that these standard certifications are still in the non mandatory implementation stage, but have pointed out the assessment goals for product development for production enterprises, and each enterprise should strive towards this direction. But in fact, many companies deviate from this standard and even engage in fraud, ultimately only harming themselves. Of course, these standards still have shortcomings, as they do not consider the requirements for household appliances in temperature and humidity testing conditions, and only specify the requirements for frozen dehumidifiers. Non frozen dehumidifiers and hybrid dehumidifiers are not listed.

So how can consumers reduce the risk of purchasing counterfeit products? I believe it can be identified through the simplest method.

The main function of purchasing a dehumidifier is dehumidification, and reducing the humidity environment of the room is the goal. The best humidity for a typical home environment is 60% RH and a temperature of 26 ℃. Dehumidifiers are not required in this interval. So when making a purchase, you can consider balancing around 1-1.5 square meters per day, which is sufficient.

2. Consumers do not need to place too much emphasis on many auxiliary functions of dehumidifiers when purchasing a machine. Some auxiliary functions may hinder the effectiveness of dehumidification and even reduce the service life.

3. The dehumidifier product is a national mandatory certification product, and it should have a 3C certification mark on the product. It can also be verified online by the National Quality Certification Center.

4. A simple method is to look at the external dimensions. Most purchases are made online, and the size of the pictures cannot represent the size of the machine. It is recommended not to buy machines without size. At the same time, compared to machines with the same dehumidification capacity, larger machines will also have a larger dehumidification capacity.

Consumers with a slight understanding of electrical knowledge can look at the ratio of input power to dehumidification capacity. The input power is very low and the dehumidification capacity is large, so there must be some false.

The most important indicator of a dehumidifier is the refrigeration capacity of the compressor. It determines the dehumidification capacity of the dehumidifier.
